Anyways, let's start today's blog.
Did you ever heard of a place where birds from different sections of the world and even the local birds come, not to migrate, not to mate, not in search of food or water but to just die. Yes, there is a place in Assam.
Jatinga is located in Dima Hasao district, Assam, India. It is about 300 kilometres away from Guwahati. This place is famous for it's mass bird suicide. Jatinga is also known as 'The valley of death'. The birds of different regions come here and suicide in a large quantity from 7pm to 10 pm which is a regular process. In the dark nights, the birds fly on the village and behave irregularly and seem to be confused and they suddenly stop flying and start to fall on ground. The birds do suicide in a large quantity, a mass suicide. This is weird, right?. The Nagas(who were the inhabitants of Jatinga in 1900) thought this was caused by evil spirits which was a fake belief.
The Birds commit suicide almost everyday. It might be because of some phenomena occurring there.
